When you come to visit Orphans of the Storm, the number of outside kennels full of excited dogs immediately strikes you. We have approximately 190 dogs in 3 kennel wings that include indoor and outdoor runs. We also have 6 large outside exercise runs, and 2 open fields where we rotate our dogs to make sure all of our K9 residents get some exercise and the outside enjoyment they all crave. We hope that along with viewing all the dogs we currently have at the shelter on-line, this tour of our dog facilities will give you another reason to stop by and meet some of the dogs yourself.
Kennels

Our North Kennel wing is the largest, straight ahead as you walk into the shelter, and houses close to 100 dogs. This is an easy way to stroll up and down the kennels and make your acquaintance with our residents. We also have two smaller East and West kennel wings on either side of the main office that together house around 90 dogs. You will find clear information cards on each dog placed on their kennel. If you have any further questions about the dog or would like to take it for a walk, then you can come to the front office and our adoption counselors will assist you.

Exercise runs

We have 6 large outdoor exercise runs and two free run areas where the dogs can exercise and feel the outdoors. We rotate the dogs through these areas daily to ensure that our Orphaned dogs get a chance to play and exercise in a larger space. On any given day, we may have 15-20 dogs enjoying these outside areas at a time. We also have space for visitors to walk the dogs, and this helps the dogs as well.
