Max's Chocolate Truffles

Volunteer Max not only loves the animals, but he is also a huge fan of chocolate. That led him to creating his own handmade truffles. His successful business has grown and now he would like to give back to the shelter with a percent of the sales of each box of truffles this holiday season going directly to the shelter to help the animals.

Max's Chocolate Truffles are available for the holidays with a percent of each sale benefiting Orphans of the Storm® animal shelter. A perfect way to support the shelter and fulfill your holiday wish list. Each order hand-made by Max and delivered fresh to the shelter for pick up on Fridays. Only 50 boxes available this season. Place your order now by calling the shelter at 847-945-0235. $25 per box of 10 Choose dark chocolate, dark chocolate with toffee, or a combination of both.

In Max's words:

I started my Max's Truffle Business because I love chocolate; I love cooking; and I love business. I'm 14 years old and started making my first Chocolate Truffles when I was 12. Over a period of about six months, I experimented and made batch after batch until I came up with my special Chocolate Ganache recipe: I wanted to perfect the taste, the texture, and the consistency of the ganache. In fact I even had wonderful and helpful telephone and email conversations with Peter G., the great American Chocolate Truffle maker, pastry chef, and author, who is with The Culinary Institute of America in New York City.

I make my truffles by hand, using only the freshest ingediants and no preservatives, so my truffles must be eatten within 12 days after I deliver them to my clients. Store bought truffles, even the ones from the famous boutique chocolatiers, have preservatives. These do not. I mix both dark and light chocolates along with the freshest of butter, whipping cream and other top-grade fresh ingediants. You do not have to refrigerate my Truffles; infact doing so will reduce the freshness of the chocolates. I also only use the freshest chocolates to cover my special ganache.

I have created and now make several different delicious Chocaloat Truffles covered respectively, by either: Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Milk Chocolate with English Toffee, Dark Chocolate with English Toffee, or Milk Chocolate with Pretzel pieces.

I love making these Chocolate Truffles and hope you love them as well.

Max Berger
