Holiday Wrapping with the Orphans While holiday shopping at Northbrook Court this past December, shoppers were able to take a break and relax with orphaned dogs and cats from our shelter. Orphans of the Storm was invited into the mall to wrap gifts in exchange for donations for the shelter. And, to get the attention of those shoppers, we brought along dogs and cats who were available for adoption. Volunteers from far and near heeded the call and made this event a huge success. And what great exposure for the shelter and all of the wonderful dogs and cats waiting for a home of their own. During our five days of wrapping, two cats and a dog met their forever families. Who knew they would go holiday shopping and return home with a new friend for life. Well, that's the way it goes when an orphan touches your heart. Two other dogs who had been shown at NBC, Buddy and Smiley, were adopted at the shelter the following week. We send out a big thank you to Maria and her management staff at Northbrook Court for making this all possible. We also can't forget all of the volunteers who wrapped and talked up the precious pets.
