Speedy and Mikey (now Flip and Flop)
Speedy and Mikey were found in Waukegan in the middle of a field. An animal welfare officer saw a box moving and went to investigate. He was surprised to find two small creatures, dark, almost black, matted with dirt. He took the creatures to Orphans of the Storm, and after a good wash and some treatment, we found that they were two small white terriers, probably brothers. Living in the front office, they quickly developed the names Mikey and Speedy for the way they used to scamper around. They both had deformities in their hind legs, probably the products of neglect or excessive confinement. One day, Anna visited the shelter and met the pair. She was bowled over by them and adopted them soon afterwards. They now live with her, renamed Flip and Flop. Anna has been so kind as to have special surgery to correct their leg problems.
